INTERWEAVE Conscious Dance ®
Interweave is the practice of weaving body, mind, heart, and spirit into the present moment with love. The classes and workshops include energy visualizations, moving meditation, intentional free-style dance, journal explorations and heart opening group interactions to heal and balance the many aspects of ourselves. Moving into a deep state, we get closer to our true selves by opening to the divine energy that flows through us. A body journey that is both grounding and ecstatic, Interweave puts transformation into practice by dissolving barriers both within and without to bring us into connected wholeness. Katie’s work is inspired by meditation, spiritual embodiment, chakra therapy, Focusing®, and Jungian archetypes and shadows.
RETREAT FACILITATOR – KATIE WELLS
Katie Wells is a shape-shifter. She channels the energy of nature, animals, characters and emotions, performing dances that both inspire and entertain. Trained in Modern Dance, West African, Physical Theater, Martial Arts, and Interdisciplinary Performance, she creates a synergy of dance, music, artful costume, and intention, to bring forth ritualistic performance for the evolution of consciousness. Also influenced by the multiplicity of the psyche, Katie looks to embrace the shadows and invoke ancient archetypes for empowerment today. Since earning a B.A. in Dance from Columbia College Chicago and a M.F.A. in Dance and Interdisciplinary Performance from the University of Colorado at Boulder, her performances and workshops have been included in festivals and venues in Europe and across the USA. Katie is now teaching at Radford University in Virginia to guide students into deep embodiment, and she continues to perform dances that explore the mysteries of the universe with musical groups such as: The Desert Dwellers, Leftover Salmon, and the Roanoke Symphony Orchestra.
Leia will be sharing a morning yoga practice as well as a soulful, water inspired belly dance. With a degree in Dance and Choreography from Hollins University, and a teaching certificate in Hatha Yoga, her personal practice is rooted in the unification of yoga and dance. Through this combination she brings mindfulness to movement inspiring us to quiet the mind, come deep into the body, and connect to our joyful-spirit.
Stephanie will be offering the ancient art of fire dancing, which began hundreds of years ago by the people of Polynesia. She will dance with a fire hoop and fire fans during our Saturday evening festivities.
Kathryn Ashera Rose
Ashera will be holding a deepening sound and song temple to root us in our first evening of the retreat. She seeks to cultivate connection and beauty through the awakening of the heart, creative expression, and community celebration. She is an interfaith minister, teacher of the Dances of Universal Peace, Reiki and healing sound practitioner, Connection Practice Coach, and lifelong songstress and dancer.
